ABOUT ALSTA

A RICH HERITAGE

The founder of Alsta Watch, Joseph Alstater, was born in 1910 in Belgium. He emigrated with his wife to the United States in 1940 and settled down in New Jersey. After the Second World War he moved to New York City and established the Alstater Watch Corporation.

Like many other watch brands at the time Alsta turned to Switzerland for its high-quality manufacturing of time-piece movements which were brought to the US and cased under the name Alsta Creations. Alsta, quickly becoming one of the most prolific and interesting post war watch brands in America.

OUR INSPIRATION

Around 2014 Glasgow based Businessman Angus MacFadyen decided to acquire the commercial rights of the by then defunct Alsta watch Brand. MacFadyen, a watch collector himself, happened to own a vintage Alsta Nautoscaph skin diver in his collection and became intrigued by this fairly unknown brand and started doing some research. He was pleasantly surprised by the extensive back catalogue of sports and dress watches from the 1950s, 60s and 70s Alsta had produced and he learned that the company stopped trading in the late 1970s.

COLLECTIONS

An Icon. Reimagined

The Superautomatic 2025 remains faithful to its original design DNA—compact and bold, purpose-driven and versatile—but now features significant advancements:

A thinner case profile for a more elegant yet robust wrist presence. An upgraded deployant clasp for improved security and day-long comfort. And at its heart, the Swiss Sellita SW200-1 movement, bringing Swiss precision to the legacy.

The Nautoscaph was the ideal choice for Alsta to burst back onto the scene in 2017 with its Nautoscaph II, which was inspired by the original Nautoscaph of the 1960s. The new line followed the same design language as the original Nautoscaph and was updated with modern materials and a slightly increased case size for contemporary tastes.

The Nautoscap V Anacapri and the the Nautoscaph V Porcelana. The casing appears almost rose gold in colour and is made of approximately 7.7% of Tin,. 92% of Copper and. 0.3% of Phosphorus. This mix is optimum due to its low impurities, making the material more resistant to corrosion. And due to the nature of bronze, each piece is unique in its patination and appearance.

Built with the same grade of stainless steel as the Nautoscaph II and IV, the Motoscaphe was engineered with motorcyclists as opposed to divers in mind. It has a bi-directional 12-hour bezel which is easy to operate and more relevant to use on the road than a uni-directional diver’s bezel.
