Until now, motorcycle watches have almost always been cheap, flimsy things with a brand logo thoughtlessly slapped on the dial. The Alsta Motoscaphe carries no specific motorcycle branding, and is instead the result of designer Allen Farmelo's decades spent riding motorcycles with mechanical watches of all kinds. Unlike any other motorcycle watch, The Motoscaphe 120 is a true tool watch created for a specific use in a specific environment.

Also unique to the Motoscaphe 120 is the dial marking, which foregos the typical depth rating found on dive watches and instead states 176 = 53.6m / sec, which adds up to 120 mph (193 kph). It is at this speed that the human perceptual apparatus begins to fail, creating a blurred sense of time and space that has long been recognized by motorcyclists as a quasi-spiritual experience. With this specification on the dial, the Motoscaphe 120 proudly announces its purpose as a watch dedicated to the wonderful experience of riding.

With a stark black sunburst dial, custom designed markers in bright white and a hint of red text, the Motoscaphe is a sporty and bold watch that looks great on any motorcycle, with any outfit, or in any situation on or off a motorcycle. Symmetry abounds, with no date window to interrupt the design which is reminiscent of a spoked wheel. The perforated black leather rally strap completes the moto look while working perfectly with the 1960s skindiver case for a comfortable fit and ample ventilation around the wrist. Plenty of Motoscaphe 120 owners don't ride motorcycles, just as countless dive watch owners don't SCUBA dive, and the Motoscaphe 120 is fast becoming a favorite among watch enthusiasts of all ilks.

Every part of the Motoscaphe 120 is created to perform under extreme conditions. With 316L stainless steel throughout, 300m of water resistance, Super-LumiNova luminescence and a screwed-in crown, the Motoscaphe 120 provides unmatched performance, sophistication and authenticity. The 12-hour bidirectional timing bezel allows one to track a second time zone or elapsed hours in the saddle. One can easily track elapsed minutes with it as well by simply multiplying by five.
